On 9 October 2024, Jeddah hosted a focused and insightful mini-masterclass on PMO Maturity and Impact, delivered to an audience of 70 engaged professionals. The session was proudly sponsored by the PMI KSA Chapter (معهد إدارة المشاريع فرع المملكة العربية السعودية) and Solutions by STC.
Over the course of two hours, participants explored critical topics shaping the future of PMOs, including the limitations of traditional benchmarking and maturity models, the evolving needs of PMOs, and the introduction of service-based maturity and impact scales. A central feature of the session was the AIPMO’s PMO-MI Maturity and Impact Model, specifically designed to assess PMOs in a practical and targeted way.
For the first time, attendees saw how PMOs can be evaluated across 24 distinct service domains, enabling comparisons within and across industries and even at the national level. This innovative approach allows governments and organizations to measure progress, identify performance gaps, and make informed decisions based on real data.
An exciting point of discussion was the academic exploration into whether generic maturity models, not tailored to PMOs, could lead to misleading conclusions. A PhD student will soon undertake a study on this important subject.
The session sparked meaningful dialogue and offered a breakthrough perspective on how PMOs can understand and enhance their value, marking a major step forward in regional and global PMO excellence.
